Young individuals given the chance to publicly recite compositions by Abe

In the heart of Kazakhstan, under the open sky of M. Auezov Square, a significant literary event took place, aimed at fostering a deeper connection between the younger generation and the nation's spiritual values. The event, titled "Abai's Heritage - The Wisdom of the People," was organised by the regional youth policy department, as part of the Year of Trades.
The event paid tribute to Abai Kunanbayev, a foundational figure in Kazakh literature, who began writing poetry at the tender age of 12. Abai enriched Kazakh literature by composing poems and translating works by Pushkin, Lermontov, Goethe, Krylov into Kazakh. His poetry is considered a wise source that nourishes the soul of the people, and his work continues to resonate deeply with the Kazakh youth and intellectual circles.
During the event, choral and solo performances of Abai's songs were heard, and participants recited his poems. Representatives of blue-collar professions also participated, demonstrating the universal appeal of Abai's work. Middle school-aged students performed poems about the seasons, a genre introduced by Abai.
Olzhas Beisenbaev, acting head of the youth policy department, stated that the event was held to spark interest in Abai's work and strengthen the bond of the younger generation with national spiritual values. The event featured performances by dozens of young men, women, and even younger poetry enthusiasts. An open microphone session allowed youth to share their own poems, recite excerpts from "Words of Wisdom," and showcase creative performances.
In his poem "Poetry - the Master of Language," Abai wrote that poetry is a genius that carves a miracle from stone. Specialists in philology stated that thanks to Abai's poetry, Kazakh poetry enriched itself with ideological-artistic discoveries and found a new, realistic path for its further development.
This event is part of a broader pattern of events honoring Abai’s legacy, which demonstrates a nationwide effort to engage youth and the public with Kazakh literature and cultural values inspired by Abai’s thought. Similar literary evenings titled "Abai's Heritage - The Wisdom of the People" are planned to take place in all regions of the country, aiming to promote Abai Kunanbayev's cultural and literary heritage and inspiring younger generations.
