Woman Removed from High-End Cruise Voyage after Liquidating Possessions, Funding Journey with over €300,000
In a surprising turn of events, Jenny Phenix, a 68-year-old woman from Florida, has found her plans for a three-year world cruise thwarted. This story, which has gained attention from British media outlets such as The Telegraph and The Mirror, began when Phenix sold all her properties and liquidated her businesses to fund this ambitious journey.
Phenix's complaints about the cruise, which was to set sail in May 2023, included a four-month delay that would prevent the ship from docking in Miami. Other grievances she expressed were about the renovations on the ship and her temporary cabin. However, it was her constant complaints about the delays, voiced in a WhatsApp group, that led to her ban from the inaugural journey.
Since December 2023, Phenix has been living "with a suitcase," as she awaits a new life plan. Despite her ban, the shipping company, Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours, has refunded part of her payment for the luxury cruise.
Phenix has expressed her feelings of "moral and physical devastation" following the cancellation of her dream cruise. She has shared her displeasure in British media, stating that many people had thanked her for her reports and that she did not insult anyone or publish her complaints on social media.
It's worth noting that over a dozen complaints were made against Phenix by residents about her negativity and constant complaints. The cancellation of her contract was due to her behaviour affecting the community, according to a letter from the ship owners.
Despite the setback, Phenix has managed to raise over 300,000 euros from the sales and liquidations of her assets. She is now left to decide on a new direction for her life, a decision that will undoubtedly be influenced by this unexpected turn of events.
This unfortunate incident serves as a reminder of the importance of patience and understanding in community settings, especially when embarking on a shared journey like a world cruise.
