Voyage to the Northernmost Norway: Sailing a Motor Yacht to the Lofoten Islands
I'm bloody thrilled to share my sea-soaked life, mate! Blimey, I've been boating for 60 years, spent most of it in the sea-kissed southeast of Sweden. Our family business, Utklippan, is a real estate firm in Karlskrona, nestled by the briny.
Eva, my wife, and I kicked off our boating journey with a Flipper 620 when our youngest cherub, Andrea, was but a five-year-old whippersnapper, and our oldest, Martin, ten. The Flipper gave us days of pleasure, yet as our youngins grew, so did our need for room. So, after five salty years, we upgraded to an Aquador 26.
That Aquador sailed for seven wondrous seasons before we decided to go boatless for a while. Hell, we couldn't stay without a watercraft for long, and before ya know it, we snagged another little craft, a sprightly aluminum sportsboat called the Buster Magnum. We chucked her in the water and used her all year round. Martin and I even competed in the Blue Ribbon gentleman's race from Ystad to Haparanda, an 810-mile marathon across the Baltic Sea in a fleeting 24 hours!
Now, me old restless mind is itching for a new target—the Lofoten islands in Norway's far north-west, about 1,400nm away. Bloody fantastic, since we now have a larger and comfier boat for the task, a Grandezza 40 Fly named Deamare, which we welcomed in 2017. Deamare is a name that means "sea goddess" in Latin, a fitting name for our seafaring family.
Here's teaser: the Buster Magnum is an adored Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) sport boat. These little beauties are known for their robustness, performance, and mix of rigid yet flexible structures, making them ideal for a range of water activities.
Good luck with the journey! If you want to know more about these speedy watercrafts, look into Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIBs) like the Buster Magnum!
