Sofia Schneider, a 15-year-old student from Bremen, has been selected for a prestigious scholarship through the exchange organization "Experiment" to travel to the United States as part of the Parliamentary Partnership Program (PPP). This marks an exciting opportunity for the young German, who will be attending the 10th grade of a US high school, equivalent to the 9th grade at a German gymnasium.

The interview at the old US embassy in Berlin went smoothly for Sofia Schneider, and she has been awarded a fully-funded scholarship by the PPP. This program, a German government-funded initiative, offers students and young professionals like Sofia opportunities to gain practical experience in the German Bundestag (federal parliament).

Through the PPP, participants can engage in internships or work placements directly with members of parliament, parliamentary groups, or parliamentary committees. This unique experience provides insights into the legislative process, German federalism, and policy making from the inside, offering valuable exposure to national politics and democratic governance.

Sofia Schneider will be living with a host family in Utah for a year, with her host mother organizing the exchange. The host father in Utah is a pastor, a fact that Sofia finds fitting given her involvement in St. Petrus Church in Habenhausen, where she organizes a monthly youth service.

The PPP is known as a bridge between students and parliamentary institutions, with placements lasting several weeks to months. Over 300 Germans annually receive travel, accommodation, and meals through the PPP.

Sofia Schneider's mother, Jimena Caelles, is thrilled about the scholarship and the upcoming trip. Despite the unpredictable political climate between the US and EU, Sofia Schneider is willing to participate in the PPP. Her previous visit to America, specifically Florida, with her family, has only fueled her excitement for this new adventure.

Sofia's itinerary includes visiting Washington's attractions and iconic landscapes from Western movies. The journey with the PPP will commence on August 5th. This is the second trip to America for Sofia Schneider, and it promises to be an enriching experience that will broaden her horizons and deepen her understanding of German and European legislative processes.

After her successful interview at the US embassy in Berlin, Sofia Schneider embarks on a journey of travel and education-and-self-development with a prestigious scholarship from the Parliamentary Partnership Program (PPP). This opportunity will allow her to spend a year in Utah, immersing herself in a new lifestyle as she deepens her understanding of American politics and democracy through engagements in travel, internships, and a host family, even while pursuing her 10th-grade studies equivalent to 9th grade at a German gymnasium.
