Turkish Southwind Airlines initiates air travel to Krasnodar, commencing from October 2nd.
Krasnodar Airport Resumes Air Traffic with Flights to Turkey
Krasnodar International Airport, the ninth largest airport in Russia in terms of passenger traffic in 2021, has reopened for air traffic, allowing for the resumption of flights to Turkey. The airport, located in the Southern Federal District, was temporarily closed for security reasons but reopened on September 11.
Following the removal of aviation restrictions, Southwind Airlines has announced a flight program to Krasnodar Airport, with the destination being Antalya, Turkey. This marks the latest development in the resumption of air travel to Krasnodar.
The flight program will operate twice a week, starting October 2. PEGAS Touristik, a major tour operator, will cooperate with Southwind Airlines for these direct flights. In addition, ANEX Tour will also operate direct charter flights from Krasnodar to Antalya starting September 24.
Before its closure, Krasnodar International Airport was serving a significant number of destinations, with 40 airlines operating at the airport. The high passenger traffic at the airport in 2021 indicates its significance in the Russian aviation sector. In its peak year, the airport handled a substantial number of passengers, recording a passenger traffic of 5,025,063, marking a 38% increase compared to 2020.
The source of the information about the Southwind Airlines flight program is ATOUR. This announcement follows the launch of a similar program by Azur air, further boosting the resumption of air travel to Krasnodar.
Prior to the restrictions, Krasnodar International Airport was serving multiple destinations. In 2021, the airport served 58 destinations, making it a crucial hub for domestic and international travel.
The reopening of Krasnodar Airport for air traffic and the resumption of flights to Turkey are positive signs for the recovery of the aviation sector in Russia. As more airlines announce their flight programs, we can expect to see an increase in air travel and a boost to the economy.
