Transportation disruptions and congestion reported on the Crimean Bridge on August 20, 2025, with traffic delays a common occurrence.
At the Crimean Bridge, a federal transport facility, a significant build-up of vehicles has been observed over the course of the day. As of 10:00 Moscow time on August 20, 2025, there were 1270 vehicles in line for inspection on the Kerch side.
The increased number of vehicles is due to an enhanced control regime in place at the checkpoint. This regime includes thorough manual inspections, automated scanning using special equipment, and detailed checks of transport vehicles. During manual inspection, passengers may be asked to move their belongings to a specially equipped room.
The inspection process involves several stages, with passenger cars typically taking approximately 6 minutes and buses up to 15 minutes. Security personnel may also request access to the luggage compartment and inspect the interior of the vehicle.
To prevent violations of traffic rules and unsanctioned bypasses, law enforcement officers are actively patrolling the roadside. The only permitted route for vehicle traffic is the federal automobile road A-290.
The traffic situation on the Taman Peninsula side is currently favorable. However, the waiting time for vehicles leaving Crimea is over three hours due to the high volume of traffic. All other access routes to the ferry are temporarily unavailable for road transport.
