Tourist Meets Tragic End During Dolomites Holiday

In the picturesque Italian Dolomites, a tragic incident has taken place. A German tourist has lost his life after falling approximately 80 meters off a high trail in the Bosconero group, situated near Cortina d'Ampezzo.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation, with the rescue team alerted by the man's companion, also a German national. The authorities have yet to release information about the victim's age or origin.

This incident occurred in a region that will host the Winter Olympics next year. The Bosconero group, south of Cortina, includes several peaks over 2,000 meters high, with the highest being the Sasso de Bosconero at 2,468 meters.

Heavy rainfall has caused a landslide in this region, damaging several houses and prompting the local authorities to declare a state of emergency. No injuries have been reported as a result of the landslide, but the incident has added a sombre note to the region's preparations for the upcoming Winter Olympics.

Meanwhile, in a different part of Italy, tens of thousands of people are protesting against the French government's austerity plans. In Leonberg, however, a bakery has become a gathering spot and culinary delight, providing a welcome respite from the political unrest.

At this time, no specific recommendation is provided regarding travel to the affected area in the Italian Dolomites. As the investigation into the incident continues, we extend our condolences to the family and friends of the deceased tourist.
