Tezos' Layer-2 Solution, Etherlink, Expands Gaming Portfolio

Etherlink, the Layer-2 scaling solution for Tezos, has made significant strides in its gaming ecosystem with the launch of two new titles: Pikes Arena and Cricket Champions.

Pikes Arena is a tactical, player-versus-player (PvP) game offering three modes: a free-to-play warm-up, a Pike mode that rewards PIKE$ tokens and airdrop eligibility, and a Tez (XTZ) mode where players can wager cryptocurrency. The game seamlessly integrates Sequence’s smart wallet and builder tools, providing a smooth transition from Web2 to Web3 environments for players.

On the other hand, Cricket Champions is a collectible card game centred around cricket. Players can collect and upgrade cricket-themed cards, engage in PvP battles, and participate in campaigns. The game aims to tap into cricket's massive global audience, particularly in India, by leveraging Etherlink’s accessible Web3 framework. It also plans to host esports tournaments at various levels.

Etherlink's gaming ecosystem is experiencing rapid growth, with over 11 active games and 180,000 wallet addresses in the past month. The platform has also seen a major DeFi integration with Curve Finance, which launched on its platform, enhancing liquidity and bridging Tezos with Ethereum-compatible ecosystems.

In addition, Etherlink is enhancing its infrastructure support through Ankr’s deployment of dedicated RPC services. This improvement is expected to result in faster blockchain interactions, reducing latency and improving reliability for applications, including games.

Efe Kucuk, Head of Gaming at Trilitech, has praised Etherlink's approach of combining user acquisition support, funding, and product expertise, stating that it is working effectively. Tezos' strategy, as demonstrated by these developments, is proving successful in growing its Web3 gaming ecosystem with big-name studios and innovative titles.

With the addition of Pikes Arena and Cricket Champions, Tezos continues its push to attract competitive gamers and sports fans to blockchain gaming.
