The Automobile Club of Germany (ADAC) Württemberg is warning about increased traffic, especially on motorways heading north. Many city dwellers will take advantage of the long weekend for a short trip, and the two-week Whitsun holidays in Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria will end on Sunday.
So, expect heavy traffic on the motorways as many vacationers return. On Sunday afternoon, traffic jams could become unavoidable. During Corpus Christi itself, it might be quieter as short vacationers tend to leave on Wednesday afternoon, according to ADAC expert Holger Bach.

- If possible, use Thursday. For those who must drive on the weekend, it's best to hit the road before 8:00 AM and after 6:00 PM.
- Avoid peak travel days at the start or end of the holiday weekend. Friday evenings and Sundays are the typical chaos periods.
- Check real-time traffic information through apps or radio updates to stay informed and adjust your route as needed.
- Consider using regional roads instead of the main autobahns during peak times.
The particularly congested routes include:
- A5 (Basel - Karlsruhe - Heidelberg)
- A6 (Nuremberg - Heilbronn - Mannheim)
- A7 (Füssen - Ulm - Würzburg)
- A8 (Munich - Stuttgart - Karlsruhe)
- A81 (Singen - Stuttgart - Heilbronn)

Several construction sites are also slowing down traffic. The most congested areas are on a section of the A8 near Pforzheim and an area on the A6 between the Walldorf interchange and Wiesloch.
