Soaring Autumn Flights to Maldives and Sri Lanka: Prices Nearly Double
Travelers planning trips to the Maldives and Sri Lanka this autumn are facing significantly higher flight costs. Prices have nearly doubled, with some airlines increasing their fares by almost 100%.
Emirates, for instance, has raised its flight cost from Moscow to the Maldives from 75,000 to 164,000 rubles, offering comfortable layovers. Meanwhile, 'Aeroflot' charges 73,000 rubles for a direct flight to Colombo in early October, but an additional 12,000 rubles is required for baggage. The cheapest option during this period is 'Aeroflot' to Male for 100,000 rubles, but baggage will incur an extra 18,000 rubles.
Before the holidays, a flight to the Maldives cost 75,000 rubles including baggage, but the same route during peak dates will set you back 142,000 rubles. Flydubai prices have also surged, from 60,000 to 114,000 rubles for the same route. A Moscow to Colombo flight from October 11 to 18 costs 47,000 rubles, but the same flight from October 25 costs 88,000 rubles.
Airlines like Etihad and Emirates offer combined flights to Sri Lanka and the Maldives around October with competitive prices and baggage included. Condor provides direct flights from Frankfurt to Male around €350-€850 with checked baggage included and multiple weekly flights in October.
With no more available seats with 'Aeroflot' to Colombo for the end of October, likely due to tour operators buying them up, travelers are advised to plan their trips well in advance and consider alternative airlines for better prices and baggage options.
