Nordwind Resumes Flights to Khánh Hòa, Boosting Russian Tourism

Nordwind Airlines has resumed direct flights from eight major Russian cities to Khánh Hòa, Vietnam, after a hiatus due to the pandemic. The move is expected to boost tourism in the province, which was once a top destination for Russian visitors.

Khánh Hòa, a south central province, is renowned for its stunning coastline, beautiful bays, and rich cultural heritage. It boasts nearly 500km of coastline and more than 200 islands and islets, including the picturesque Nha Trang, Vân Phong, Cam Ranh, and Vĩnh Hy bays. The province is also home to the ancient Chăm towers, traditional festivals, craft villages, and the intangible heritage of the Raglai and Chăm ethnic minority communities.

Nordwind Airlines will operate 18-22 flights monthly, carrying around 6,800 passengers. The resumption of these direct flights has reignited tourist flows to Khánh Hòa, with Cam Ranh International Airport now receiving more than 30 direct flights weekly from Russian cities. Russian visitors arriving on the first Nordwind flight expressed excitement to return and explore new sites and cultural landmarks. Before the pandemic, Khánh Hòa welcomed nearly 493,000 Russian arrivals in 2019. In the first eight months of 2025, the province received 279,000 Russian tourists, with the number expected to surpass pre-pandemic levels by the year-end.

The resumption of direct flights from Russia to Khánh Hòa is set to further boost tourism in the province, which offers a unique blend of natural beauty, cultural attractions, and convenient access. Russian tourists, known for their love of long stays and beach leisure, are expected to contribute significantly to the local economy.
