Saxena continued, "We tested lorundrostat globally on a large population and discovered that it had a good safety profile and lowered blood pressure consistently in all of our patient groups."
With hypertension medications failing almost one-sixth of patients, lorundrostat presents a new solution in the fight against this persistent disease.
Two experts, not involved in the study, also weighed in on the findings.
Cheng-Han Chen, MD, board-certified interventional cardiologist, noted that "aldosterone synthase inhibitors are a promising new class of drugs for hypertension treatment."
Rigved Tadwalkar, MD, FACC, consultative cardiologist, added, "Lorundrostat has massive potential to make a real difference in patients' lives."
