King River Digital Launches $100M Web3 Gaming Fund
King River Digital, in collaboration with Polygon Labs and Immutable, has launched a $100 million gaming fund dedicated to web3 gaming. The fund, led by King River Capital, aims to invest in premier game studios and web3 infrastructure. Robbie Ferguson, President and Co-Founder of Immutable, expressed excitement about the fund's potential to identify and invest in top web3 gaming opportunities.
The fund, named Inevitable Games Fund, has already invested in several promising projects. Pixelmon, a web3 gaming platform, raised $8 million in a seed round, while MetalCore secured $5 million in funding. The Guild of Guardians, with over 1 million pre-registrations ahead of its Q2 2024 launch, and My Pet Hooligan are among the other beneficiaries.
Early participants in the fund include Alpha Wave Ventures, Merit Circle, and angel investors like Mike Arrington and James Ferguson. The fund is open to professional and sophisticated investors, with King River Capital leading the deployment of its capital.
Zeb Rice, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at King River Capital, believes the web3 gaming industry could follow the trajectory of mobile gaming, indicating a promising future for the sector. The Inevitable Games Fund, with its strategic investments and prominent backers, is poised to play a significant role in shaping the web3 gaming landscape.
