Harburg Christmas Market Ends with Fireworks Despite Short Duration
The Harburg Christmas Market concluded with a bang, literally, as a fireworks display from the Town Hall Square marked its end on Friday. Despite a shorter duration and challenging weather, the market drew many locals and offered popular activities for children.
The market, which reopened on Friday after the fireworks, was the shortest in years. This, coupled with a storm before Christmas and bad weather, impacted sales. However, organiser Anne Rehberg expressed satisfaction with the market's concept, which was well-received by families with children. Offers like the Santa Claus consultation hour and craft afternoons proved particularly popular.
The little bell train made its rounds again on Friday, adding to the festive atmosphere. Despite the setbacks, the market ended on a high note, with the last bratwurst and glasses of mulled wine sold on Friday evening.
The Harburg Town Hall Square will host another Christmas market next year, starting at the end of November. While the 2022 market faced challenges, organisers have indicated that the event will return, offering more opportunities for families and residents to enjoy the holiday season.
