Flydubai initiates flights to Iași, Romania, while escalating daily flights to Bucharest.
Flydubai Expands Presence in Moldova and Romania
Flydubai, the Dubai-based airline, has announced the launch of direct flights between Dubai and Chisinau, Moldova, marking its third destination in the country. This move is part of Flydubai's ongoing global expansion strategy.
The new service offers twice-weekly return flights between Dubai and Chisinau, starting from October 1, 2022. The inaugural flight was welcomed with a water cannon salute at Eugen Doga International Airport. Local airport officials, including Sergiu Spoială, General Director of International Airport, were present at the inaugural flight.
Flydubai is the only UAE carrier to offer direct flights to Moldova. In Romania, the airline has expanded its network to two destinations with the addition of Iasi, Romania's third largest city. The flights to Iasi International Airport (IAS) will operate twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays from Terminal 2, Dubai International (DXB).
The airline has begun direct flights between Dubai and Iasi, following its expansion in Romania to two destinations. Passenger numbers on the route to Bucharest have grown by an average of 16% annually since Flydubai started flights in 2012. In response to this growth, Flydubai has increased its flights from a three-times weekly service to a triple daily service on the Bucharest route. From October 1, 2022, Emirates airline will offer flights three times daily between Dubai and Bucharest, further enhancing connectivity for passengers.
Jeyhun Efendi, divisional senior VP of Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai, said in a statement sent to Khaleej Times, "We are pleased to announce the launch of our new service between Dubai and Chisinau, our third destination in Moldova. This route will offer more opportunities for travellers to connect with Dubai's international aviation hub and beyond."
Return Business Class fares from Chisinau to DXB start from EUR 2,000 and Economy Class Lite fares start from EUR 380. Return Business Class fares from DXB to Chisinau start from Dh8,000 and Economy Class Lite fares start from Dh1,600.
This expansion is a testament to Flydubai's commitment to providing affordable and efficient travel options to more people, connecting them to a world of opportunities.
