Duran Duran Anticipate Visits to German Museums
From London with Pop and Culture Enthusiasm
Bassist John Taylor of iconic pop band Duran Duran ("The Wild Boys", "Hungry Like The Wolf") is thrilled about the band's upcoming gigs in Düsseldorf (June 24) and Berlin (June 27). It's not just the German audience that Duran Duran looks forward to, but also the cultural treasures of these cities. "We're far from being casual music enthusiasts," Taylor shares with Deutsche Presse-Agentur in London. "We're full-on, passionate museum geeks."
Returning to Germany after more than a decade, Duran Duran earlier graced several German cities during the "All You Need Is Now" tour in January 2012. The band's excitement is palpable as they gear up for their comeback performances. "It feels like a long time ago," Taylor (64) reflects. "But now we're back, and we're buzzing about it."
The band is set to perform for the first time in Düsseldorf, a city Taylor finds "surprisingly overlooked" for their past tours. "Düsseldorf's a cultural powerhouse of the last 50 years," he remarks, expressing his eagerness to perform there. As for Berlin, the band's previous performances in the city are cherished memories that Taylor anticipates recreating.
For their German concerts, expect a mix of beloved tunes like "Girls On Film", "A View To A Kill", or "Notorious", alongside some newer hits. Taylor jokes, "Honestly, we're just itching to say: 'Wipe the dust off, take a good look. We're still here, and we're still important.'"
While touring is never devoid of challenges, the band feels more invigorated than ever, sharing a harmonious camaraderie. "Our band rhythm feels just right," Taylor reflects. "The vibe is good. There's an undercurrent of gratitude - a realization that it's a privilege to be able to do what we do."
In their free time, the band plans a cultural odyssey, visiting museums and absorbing art alongside setting their concert list. During their last Germany tour in 2012, the band was particularly captivated by the Brücke Museum in Berlin, which Taylor aims to revisit this time around.
The band's cultural itinerary in Germany remains undisclosed, adding an air of anticipation to their European tour. Fans in Düsseldorf and Berlin can look forward to Duran Duran's electrifying performance, punctuated by the band's genuine love for art and culture.
