Disney Plus and Hulu bringing fans audio companion series for popular shows
In an exciting development, Disney+ and Hulu are expanding their content offerings to include video podcasts for fan-favourite shows. The endeavour kicks off with the launch of the "Only Murders in the Building" Official Podcast, and it's just the beginning.
Joining the podcast family are shows like "Dancing with the Stars," "Paradise," "Percy Jackson and the Olympians," "Tell Me Lies," "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives," and "Murdaugh: Death in the Family." These podcasts aim to give fans more ways to connect deeply with their favourite shows.
Derek Hough, a judge on "Dancing with the Stars," expressed his gratitude towards fans ahead of the September 16 premiere of the show's podcast. According to Hough, the show's longevity is due to the support of fans who have been tuning in for 20 years. New podcast episodes will be released weekly, following each episode drop of the show.
The podcast distribution will include partnerships with ABC News Audio. Michael Cyril Creighton, who plays Arconia neighbour Howard Morris in "Only Murders in the Building," will host and executive produce the podcast. The hosts of the new video podcasts for Dancing with the Stars have not been explicitly mentioned, but Julianne Hough remains a co-host of Dancing with the Stars itself.
The podcasts are designed to offer a backstage pass for viewers, allowing them to go behind the scenes with creators and casts. They will provide audiences with recaps, behind-the-scenes facts, and more. The podcasts will continue the conversation beyond each episode in an engaging and entertaining new way.
The podcasts will feature guests such as John Hoffman, Steve Martin, Martin Short, Selena Gomez, Christoph Waltz, Jane Lynch, and Keegan Michael Key. The podcast's premiere coincides with the show's season five premiere on September 9.
Shannon Ryan, Direct-to-Consumer & Disney Entertainment Television Marketing President, stated that the podcasts are a part of Disney's commitment to providing an immersive and engaging experience for their audience. The Walt Disney Company, the parent company of Hulu, Disney+, and this ABC station, is excited about this new venture and looks forward to bringing fans even closer to their favourite shows.
Podcast episodes for additional Disney shows will be available on YouTube. As Disney+ and Hulu continue to innovate and expand their content, fans can expect more exciting announcements in the future. Stay tuned!
