Cultural Exchange Event in County Herford from September 13th to October 24th, 2025 (Dafur)
The Intercultural Weeks in the Kreis Herford area are set to return for their 16th edition, running from September 13 to October 24. This annual initiative, which has been taking place for over 40 years, aims to promote diversity, combat racism, and foster a sense of community.
The events are organized by the 'widunetz - Network for Integration & Diversity in Kreis Herford,' a cooperative effort involving Kreis Herford, the cities and municipalities of the region, the carriers of the free welfare services in Kreis Herford, and other network partners. The network was established in 2008 with the goal of networking the institutions in Kreis Herford that deal with integration and migration and carrying out joint projects.
Marie-Joelle Chaput from the Communal Integration Center in Kreis Herford emphasized the network's message, stating that the Intercultural Weeks embody exchange, coming together, and shared experiences. Landrat Jürgen Müller, who is once again the patron of the Intercultural Weeks, reiterated this sentiment, saying that the weeks are an opportunity to celebrate the rich cultural diversity in the region.
This year's motto for the Intercultural Weeks is 'for it!', reflecting the network's commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion. Over 20 events are scheduled to take place across the region, with participating organizations including clubs, counseling centers, churches, further education institutions, religious communities, associations, volunteer initiatives, authorities, and many more.
The nationwide Intercultural Week's motto is 'Diversity connects.' Across Germany, around 5,000 events are offered during the Intercultural Week, in more than 500 cities and communities. The Intercultural Week is an initiative of the German Bishop's Conference, the Protestant Church in Germany, and the Greek Orthodox Metropolis.
