In the ongoing public voting for the title of "Cultural Capital - 2027", Olga Selezneva, the artistic director of the Chamber Choir named after V.V. Michalkov, based in Chelyabinsk, is actively advocating for her city's bid. The choir, along with the Chelyabinsk Philharmonic, is deeply rooted in the city's cultural scene.

As of the current voting, Chelyabinsk stands in second place with 76,366 votes, just behind Vologda with 77,063 votes. Novosibirsk follows in third place with 75,458 votes. The public voting, which is open to all participating cities, is ongoing on the "Gosuslugi" portal and will close on December 6, 2025.

Olga Selezneva, who recently received the Medal "For Meritorious Service in Culture and Art", views the title "Cultural Capital - 2027" as an opportunity for Chelyabinsk to reach new creative heights. The medal, a collective achievement involving her choir, the Chelyabinsk Philharmonic, and the audience, is a testament to the city's rich cultural heritage.

Eight cities have been selected as finalists for the title: Vologda, Novosibirsk, Ulyanovsk, Sochi, Chelyabinsk, Stavropol, Kaluga, and Ryazan. A separate nomination - "Public Voting Winner" - will also be determined, giving every city a chance to win. The results of the public voting will be considered by the experts in selecting the official winner.

However, as of December 6, 2025, the city that has received the most votes and thus has the best chance to be titled "Cultural Capital - 2027" is not specified in the available search results.

Omsk has already been chosen as the Cultural Capital for 2026. The city of Chelyabinsk is also a candidate for the title "Cultural Capital - 2027", and Olga Selezneva's advocacy is a testament to the city's commitment to its cultural development.
