Burberry assumes control over The Newt in Somerset, a tribute to the quintessential British summer season.

Get ready for a fashionable tussle with the British countryside! Trendsetter Burberry has once again scored a homerun, this time collaborating with The Newt in Somerset - a luxurious estate known for its stunning gardens and working farm - to create the epitome of British summer retreats.
Yearning for the Weekend Away
British designer, Daniel Lee, serving as Creative Director for Burberry, took inspiration from the classic weekend getaway to the countryside for his A/W 2025 collection. "It's that slightly eccentric, bohemian urge to travel," he said, referring to long, rainy strolls in idyllic landscapes and day trips to grand country homes.
With a knack for breathing new life into British quirks, this collection featured a rolling lineup of actors famous for their work in the 'country house' genre, such as Richard E Grant, Elizabeth McGovern, and Lesley Manville, during the runway show. For S/S 2025, a Richard Curtis-style London rom-com, starring Kate Winslet, Aimee Lou Wood, and Nicholas Hoult, took center stage.
Stirring up the British Countryside
Following a recent collaboration with King Charles' Highgrove—featuring Helen Bullock's botanical designs on trench coats and cardigans, inspired by the fabled gardens—Burberry has set its sights on The Newt in Somerset. This South African businessman Koos Bekker and his wife, Karen Roos-owned estate includes the 18th-century Hadspen House, a West Country estate renowned for its lush gardens and sprawling 2000-acre working farm.
A playful twist on the summer escape, this collaboration weaves Burberry's signature check pattern throughout the estate, evoking the estate's distinctive pond-green hue. The collaboration was showcased during the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, where The Newt served as the headline sponsor, and this week, it's coming to life in full swing.
Burberry's Ultimate Somerset Sojourn
The collaboration is transforming the hotel - spread across the main house and a reimagined farmyard location - with pops of green checks adorning sun loungers by the spa and pool, wrapping electric buggies and parasols, covering croquet lawns, and even gracing a hot-air balloon that lifts guests above the estate in style.
Designed to capture the essence of a British summer, rain or shine, guests of The Newt can indulge in Burberry-infused activities across the grounds. These include badminton with custom racquets, swimming complete with personalized towels, and leisurely picnics on checkered blankets.
Of course, no Burberry getaway would be complete without a nod to the brand's rich history of outfitters for adventurers. The estate's hot-air balloon harkens back to the early 19th century, when Burberry garb was a staple for pioneering balloonists such as Air Commodore Edward Maitland, who embarked on a 1,117-mile journey in 1908 wearing Burberry gabardine.
A boutique Burberry pop-up
To celebrate this collaboration, a boutique has been erected on the grounds, offering swimwear, outerwear, hats, scarves, umbrellas, and pieces from the S/S 2025 collection for those wanting to capture a slice of Burberry's countryside charm to take home[3].
Presented at the brutalist National Theatre in London, the collection was inspired by the ‘easy elegance’ of British artist Gary Hume's work. Hume himself designed the show's set, creating a collection of cut-out medical green tarpaulins reminiscent of his 1990 installation 'Bays'. "There was a real bond of being two creative people," Hume said regarding the collaboration with Burberry[4].
