Born to Ralph and Shirley Groshart, Mark was the cherished father of Jay and Amber, and the proud grandfather of Aliya and Paisley. He was affectionately known as the "pet spoiler-in-chief" within his family due to his generous treatment of pets. His home was always a welcoming place, with his always-lit porch light and full cookie jar symbolising his open-door hospitality and caring spirit.

In addition to his love for family and music, Mark served four years in the United States Navy as a SeaBees mechanic during the Vietnam War. He shared a deep bond with his sister Musette (Groshart) Poll and his brothers Matthew and Mike, and spent half a century ranching with his brother Mike on their family ranches.
