Aromatic scents of light and almond fill the air as the Christmas market nears.
Groovy News: Harburg - Sparkle, almond aroma, and delightful bites: Kick off the festive spirit with the Harburg Christmas Market, commencing Thursday, November 21, at 6 PM. The grand debut happens in front of the Harburg town hall led by Anne Rehberg and deputy district administrator Dierk Trispel. Grab mulled wine and enjoy carousel rides from 11 AM on opening day.
Get ready for shimmer, almond scent, and mouthwatering treats until Sunday, December 29. Creative workshops, handmade goods, storytelling, punch, and a whole lotta music create a warm, family-friendly atmosphere. Plus, the Harburg Marketing team will sprinkle excitement with cultural performances and children's activities.
According to Anne Rehberg, the market signifies the perfect opportunity to escape the digital realm and spend quality time with loved ones.
This year, embrace the harbor connection with a maritime twist. For the first time, the "Elbjungs" (November 21-24) will sashay in with nautical fashion. A brand-new "Mulled Wine Ahoy" booth and a salmon stall grace the scene. The prices remain steady compared to last year, assures Anne Rehberg.
After dark on December 8, catch Frau Holle showering the town hall with snowflakes and golden chocolate coins. The Nikolaus boot action is another hit, with kindergartens leaving boots at the carousel on December 5, and finding them filled by the personal Nikolaus the next day from 3 PM.
Every Tuesday and Wednesday, hear fairy tales read aloud from 4:30 PM. On December 1 and 15 at 3 PM, the puppet theater beckons with a Christmas performance. Other joyful distractions for children include art workshops, even collaborating with the archaeological museum, decorating Hamburg's largest gingerbread house, Christmas man speaking hours, campfire bread baking, and visits from Olaf, the snowman. Top it off with daily surprises from the Harburg children's advent calendar, where the daily treat is drawn among the participating kids each evening.
Browse jewelry, ceramics, kids' clothing, and candles at the art, craft, and design huts. The offerings change almost weekly.
Daily concerts of town hall bells, the open singing event "Harburg sings", Ingrid Waldheim's delightful fruit spreads and liqueurs, and Astrid Thal's one-of-a-kind chocolates liven up the music scene.
The grand closing on Saturday, December 28, ignites with a fireworks display from the Harburg Arcades rooftop at 6 PM.
Opening Hours: Mondays to Saturdays: 11 AM to 9:30 PM | Sundays: 1 PM to 9:30 PM. The Tombs Sunday (November 24) opens at 5 PM. The market takes a break on December 24, 25, and 26.
