American Express Platinum card now carries a higher annual fee of $895, coupled with $3,500 worth of perks detailed.
The American Express Platinum Card has seen significant changes, with new benefits and a higher annual fee. Starting from the next renewal date on or after January 2, 2026, for consumers, the annual fee will increase from $695 to $895 per year.
This premium rewards credit card now offers a range of appealing benefits. Frequent travelers, diners, and lifestyle spenders will find the Uber One, Resy, and hotel credits, digital entertainment, and Lululemon credit particularly appealing.
Travelers can look forward to up to $300 in Lululemon credits annually (up to $75 per quarter) for eligible purchases made at U.S. Lululemon stores or online. Platinum Card holders can also earn up to $100 in statement credits each quarter (up to $400 annually) at U.S. Resy restaurants or for other eligible Resy purchases.
The Uber One membership, which usually costs $24.99 per month, can be auto-renewed at no additional cost for Platinum Card members, providing up to $120 in statement credits each year.
For those who enjoy dining out, the card offers up to $100 in statement credits each quarter (up to $400 annually) at U.S. Resy restaurants or for other eligible Resy purchases. Platinum Card members also get access to Platinum Nights by Resy, offering exclusive reservations at select in-demand restaurants.
The card's travel benefits are equally impressive. Cardholders can access more than 1,550 airport lounges worldwide. In addition, they can receive up to $300 in statement credits semi-annually on prepaid Fine Hotels + Resorts or The Hotel Collection bookings through American Express Travel using the Platinum Card.
American Express is also expanding its Centurion Lounge Network. The network will soon include a Haneda Airport in Tokyo, Japan, and a Salt Lake City International Airport in Utah.
For business cardholders, the fee increase will take effect on or after December 2, 2025. Platinum Card members who purchase an Oura Ring through ouraring.com using their card can earn up to $200 in statement credits each calendar year.
It's important for cardholders to carefully consider how much value they're likely to get from the card and whether that value outweighs the annual fee. The greatest beneficiaries of the newly redesigned American Express Platinum Card are frequent travelers and luxury lifestyle users who actively utilize travel credits, lounge access, exclusive hotel statuses, ride service credits, restaurant and shopping credits, plus extensive travel insurance. These perks can provide a total value of approximately €1,100 to €1,600 annually, exceeding the €720 yearly fee if fully leveraged.
