Almost one-fourth of UK vacationers prefer revisiting familiar destinations for a sense of security during their staycations
The Camping and Caravanning Club (C&CC) has released a survey revealing that four in ten UK staycationers prefer returning to the same destination, with picturesque holiday spots like the Scottish Highlands, Cornwall, and the Lake District being the most popular choices [1][5].
According to the survey of 1,200 UK travellers, 37% return to the same destination to revisit a beautiful spot, while 31% choose it for the memories associated with the place. Interestingly, 20% visit somewhere that feels like a "home away from home" [1].
Popular destinations largely include those with beaches (48%) and scenic viewpoints (32%) that staycationers want to experience again, along with specific eateries (37%) they enjoy [1]. The results highlight that UK travellers often favour familiar scenic or coastal locations rather than specific named places.
Peter Byrne, the Content Editor for the website and Practical Motorhome, oversaw the online buying guides, features, and news for the survey, and occasionally writes for the magazine [2].
Darren Whittington, the Deputy Director General at The Camping and Caravanning Club, stated that UK holidays now make up 59% of all trips taken [3]. Whittington also mentioned that trying a new activity or taking up a hobby can make a holiday unforgettable [6].
Favourite activities for UK travellers include discovering a hidden gem (41%), embarking on a cross-country road trip (24%), visiting a favourite film or TV show set (23%), wild swimming (14%), paddleboarding (13%), mountain climbing and biking (12%) [4].
The C&CC believes that people can be creatures of habit when it comes to their holidays, but there's much to see in the UK. The survey conducted by One Poll on behalf of the Camping and Caravanning Club found that 77% of UK travellers will "at least sometimes" return to a place they've previously visited [1].
The article also mentions a SUBSCRIBERS' OFFER and a NEWSLETTER sign-up for regular updates on caravan-related news. The lead image for the article is by Phil Russell [2].

Caravan sites in home-and-garden magazines could offer buying guides for those seeking a "home away from home" ahead of their travel to popular destinations like the Scottish Highlands, Cornwall, and the Lake District, which are frequented by UK staycationers. For individuals looking to incorporate new hobbies into their lifestyle during their travels, Practical Motorhome's online portal could provide information on activities such as wild swimming, paddleboarding, mountain climbing, and biking that UK travellers normally enjoy in the scenery of their chosen destinations.
