Looks like things are finally back to normal folks! By 6pm today, May 8, 2025, we can say goodbye to the chaotic schedule and welcome the good old routine, according to the Ministry of Transport's announced press briefing. All airports in the Moscow region are now up and running, business as usual - accepting and sending flights.

Here's a rundown on the hiccups they've faced: There have been 51 delayed departures and 43 delayed arrivals at Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo, and Zhukovsky airports - that's quite a heap. Over 14,000 people will be transported on these delayed flights, the ministry shared.

As of 11:45 PM Moscow time on May 7, as reported by Rosaviation rep Artem Korenyako, out of the 186 aircraft that landed at alternate airports, a whopping 165 (89%) have managed to find their way to their original destinations. St. Petersburg's Pulkovo Airport, another alternative airport, has handled all flights, with most of the redirected aircraft already on their merry way to their destinations. The airport's currently in tip-top shape, claims Pulkovo.

No crowds at Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo either - "At the moment, there are no major deviations from the schedule. Individual changes displayed on the board are due to the gradual restoration of the flight schedule. Passenger traffic is evenly distributed across all functional zones of the terminal; the situation remains cool, calm, and collected with no queues or crowds," the Domodedovo message chirped.

Over 60,000 passengers were affected by flight delays and cancellations on May 6 and 7 due to the operation restrictions of airports in the central part of Russia. According to the Association of Tour Operators of Russia, every third flight in Moscow was delayed or canceled. The average delay time reported for departures from Moscow airports was a hefty three hours and 20 minutes for arrivals.

On May 7, the Ministry of Transport wielded their big guns, placing the situation under special control and enlisting Rosaviation. Aviation companies were urged to adopt a reasonable tariff policy, beef up their staff, ensure the proper operation of call centers, and inform passengers ahead of any changes in flight performance, as reported by the Ministry of Transport's press service.
